TEACHING EXPERIENCE Upper School History, Baldwin School 2010-2012 Taught grades 10-12, both standard and Advanced Placement. LEGAL CAREER Trial lawyer specializing in criminal defense, primarily serious felonies and homicides; Defender Association of Philadelphia: 1981-1988; Private Practice: 1988-2005; Notable cases: Commonwealth v. Raymond Carter, resulted in winning freedom for Mr. Carter who had been wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life. Mr. Carter is now free and works in violence prevention. Commonwealth v. Vincent Johnson, exposed irregularities in the prosecution of this murder case and as a result gaining freedom for a man who had been imprisoned for thirty seven years. Forbes v. Lower Merion Township, a civil rights suit for the wrongful death of Erin Forbes in a tragic police confrontation that ended with the shooting of Mr. Forbes. A jury returned a verdict in favor of the police. VOLUNTEER POSITIONS Created a task force to consider creating a child-centered visiting space for children visiting inmates at Philadelphia county prisons.
