Walking at night became a brighter prospect thanks to SHCA’s Franklin Lights Project, which doubled the illumination of our Society Hill sidewalks. Residents, businesses, and organizations contributed to a neighborhood-wide fundraiser to help with the replacement of 40-year-old street lights with 500 new Franklin lights. The rest of the funds were obtained through a city capital fund and a state grant. The installment of the new lights was completed in March 2007. The remainder of the funds were used for the repainting of the light poles in 2010.
