Walking at night became a brighter prospect thanks to SHCA’s Franklin Lights Project, which doubled the illumination of our Society Hill sidewalks. The cost of the project was $600,000. Residents, businesses, and organizations contributed to a neighborhood-wide fundraiser to help with the replacement of 40-year old street lights with 500 new Franklin Lights. A large portion of the funds were obtained through a city capital fund and a state grant. The installment of the new lights was completed in March 2007. The remainder of the funds were used for the repainting of the light poles in 2010.
Help Keep our Lights in Good Order: We depend on residents to report any malfunction of the lights, including bulb outages, damage to the poles or light fixtures. Please report any of these by contacting 311, either by phone or online. Give the exact address of the light pole.
